The COVID-19 related fatalities in Sindh crossed the figure of 2,500 on October 1 when the province registered its number of patients losing their lives to the lethal virus in double digits, with 361 new infections in the last 24 hours, after over a month.
Earlier the province had registered the deaths in double digits (11) on August 24, while same was 13 on October 1 when there were reports that the civil administration had initiated actions against marriages hall, restaurants and other eateries for violating COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as prescribed by the government.
With the detection of new cases during the last 24 hours ending October 1 morning, Sindh’s overall number of COVID-19 cases rose to 137,467, which is 10% of the total samples (1,374,768) tested so far.
Sindh’s tally of the cured patients came as 130510 (95%), including 158 patients who recovered from the diseases on October 1.
There was no information about the residency, hospitalization and age of the deceased patients, as Sindh health department continued the lull on the subject.
The Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, in his routine statement, mentioned that COVID-19 was further spreading in the province and as such people were advised to follow SOPs.
He shared that of the 4,445 active COVID-19 patients, 4,161 were in home-isolation, while 277, including 192 critically ill patients were hospitalized and 37 patients were put on ventilators.
Sindh’s daily infection rate was recorded as 3% on October 1 against Pakistan’s daily rate of 2%.
New cases were reported from Karachi (249), Badin (19), Hyderabad (12), Dadu (7), Ghotki (6), Jamshoro (5), Mirpurkhas (3), Naushero Feroze (2), Kambar Shahdadkot (2), Larkana (2), Sukkur (2), Matiari (1), Shaheed Benazirabad (1), Shikarpur (1), Thatta (1), and others.
