Sindh’s daily new COVID-19 infection rate rose to three percent on October 5 when the authorities confirmed detection of another 252 cases, with two relevant deaths during the last 24 hours.
In his daily statement on October 5, the Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, declared that with the registration of new infections, Sindh’s tally of infected people had rose to 138,593 out of 14,116,482 suspected samples.
The chief minister once again highlighted that coronavirus had started spreading and asked people to wear masks while going out, wash hands frequently besides avoiding going into crowded places.
He further shared that, as of October 5, 4,608 people were suffering from the virus while 432 more got cured during the last 24 hours ending October 5 morning.
As per his statement, 4,327 people were in home-isolation, six were admitted at isolation centres, while 275 were receiving treatment at private and public sector hospitals. As many as 188 patients were undergoing the critical phase, while another 33 were put on ventilators.
Karachi registered 166 (66%) new cases, followed by Hyderabad (14 cases), Naushehro Feroze (5), Tando Allahayar (4), Jamshoro (3), Badin (3), Mirpurkhas (2), Shaheed Benazirabad (2), Tando Mohammad Khan (2), Larkana (1) and others.
Among the districts, Karachi East and Karachi Korangi reported one COVID-19 fatality each on October 5.
In the meantime, Sindh witnessed the all days’ lowest number of new COVID-19 tests during the last 24 hours, against 10,813 of October 4, 9,918 of October 3, 12,990 of October 2 and 11,689 of October 1.
The COVID-19 testing laboratories in Karachi tested 4,022 samples, in comparison to 3,971 samples tested by four laboratories in the interior districts of Sindh.
