The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government has planned to launch the world’s largest and highest cable car project in the picturesque Kumrat valley at Upper Dir that will be opened for the public next year.
The decision was made during the meeting of the provincial tourism department with Chief Minister, Mahmood Khan, in the chair.
The cable car will connect the Kumrat valley with Lower Chitral’s Madaklasht valley.
There will be numerous facilities available around the cable car which will include a car parking space for incoming tourists, a restaurant and other allied features.
The feasibility study and engineering design for the 14-km long project, which will be completed in five months, is estimated to cost around Rs. 32 billion.
The promoters claimed that the proposed project will be the longest and highest cable car in the world they expected it to attract eight million local and foreign tourists every year.
The project will also create employment opportunities for locals and boost economic activity in the province.
