Pakistan surges past 100,000 COVID-19 cases

The recent spike, causing worries and alarms all over the country, has now seen the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan surging past 100,000 with more than 2,000 deaths. 

With the loss of 458 more lives and infection of 26,853 more people during the last one week only, the COVID-19 cases and related deaths across the country, on June 7, went past 100,000 and 2,000, respectively. 

The tally of Covid-19 confirmed cases had jumped to 101,468, with 2,032 deaths by the evening of June 7 with Sindh having detected 38,108 cases, followed by Punjab (37,090), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (13,487), Balochistan (6,516), Islamabad (4,979), Gilgit-Baltistan (927) and Azad Kashmir (361). 

Pakistan has become the 15th country in the world having more than 100,000 cases. The United States, Brazil, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom, India, Italy, Peru, Germany, Iran, Turkey, France, Chile and Mexico have higher cases than Pakistan.
