CDWP approves ML-1 project

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has accorded approval of the all-important railway project under the auspices of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) second phase. 

The CDWP has approved and recommended ML-1(Main Line-1) project to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), Asim Saleem Bajwa, the special assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Chairman CPEC authority, tweeted on June 6. 

He revealed that the project cost USD 7.2 billion as it includes doubling and up-gradation of 1872-km Railway track from Peshawar to Karachi, beside up-gradation of Walton Academy and building dry port at Havelian. 

“Big milestone for the second phase of CPEC,” he reckoned as ML-1 has been acclaimed as one of the prime projects to be undertaken by the authority.
