China has expressed its willingness to work with Pakistan to strengthen cooperation in areas such as digital applications, industrial policies, and technical training to promote the development of Pakistan's information industry and benefit the general public.

The Chinese Ambassador, Yao Jing, shared these views when Federal Minister for Information Technology, Syed Amin-ul-Haq, met him in Islamabad on May 13. The Federal Secretary Ministry of IT and Communication, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, was also present on the occasion.

Ambassador Yao informed the Minister and the Secretary that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has entered into a new phase of enrichment and expansion with information and communication technology being a significant area for cooperation between the two countries.

“China and Pakistan are true friends in trouble and good brothers who share the same difficulties. When China was fighting the domestic epidemic situation, Pakistan provided us firm support. Pakistan is currently facing an epidemic challenge. China is also firmly standing behind Pakistan to share prevention and control experience, provide anti-epidemic materials, and jointly responding,” the Ambassador observed.

The Federal Minister for Information Technology remarked that Pakistan positively evaluated China's anti-epidemic achievements and the continued support between the two nations was another testimony of them being truly good friends and brothers.

On behalf of the Pakistan government, he acknowledged the Chinese government and people for their tremendous assistance and support for the fight against epidemics.

“Pakistan attaches great importance to the development of information and communication technology and cooperation with China,” Amin-ul-Haq added.

“Pakistan firmly supports Chinese enterprises to carry out relevant business in Pakistan. We are working towards the development of the CPEC projects and we are eager to cooperate extensively with China in the information industry besides actively participating in the construction of special economic zones, improving the industrial chain, to help provide job opportunities to the masses,” the Minister stated.
