Another warm sendoff for LPB Founder

Prof Dr Ghani-ul-Akram Sabzwari, Founder President, Library Promotion Bureau (LPB), Founder Editor, Pakistan Library and Information Science Journal (PLISJ), was given another warm sendoff as he prepared to fly back to North America after having undertaken six-month tour of Pakistan.

Bazm-e-Akram, now an internationally acclaimed literary forum of library professionals, organized what has become a traditional farewell reception in his honour in Karachi on March 15. He is scheduled to leave for abroad early next week.

Prof Dr Nasim Fatima, one of the most respected library scientists of the country and the motivating force behind the Bazm-e-Akram, in her welcome speech, vowed to maintain the same intensity and passion as desired by their mentor and teacher. 

Prof Dr Ghani-ul-Akram Sabzwari, a former Chairperson of the LIS department at the University of Karachi, once again commended Prof Dr Nasim Fatima for having kept the bureau (LPB) and the journal (PLISJ) afloat in the very challenging times. 

Hailed as one of the founding fathers of Library and Information Science (LIS) in the country, he revealed his plan to return to Pakistan later this year, hopefully during the month of November. 

The function was attended by the senior officials of the Bazm-e-Akram which included S A Naqvi, Azra Qureshi, Dr Nasreen Shagufta, Dr Amna Khatoon, Zainuddin Siddiqui, Mairaj Jami, Liaquat Ali Khan and Syed Khalid Mahmood.
