DHA Suffa University holds conference on Russia-Ukraine crisis

The speakers reckoned that the biggest issue of the ongoing Ukraine crisis was the issue of food security as both Russia and Ukraine happened to be the largest producers of grains and Pakistan also imported grains from Ukraine.

They were addressing a one-day international conference on Russia-Ukraine crisis hosted by the department of International Relations, DHA Suffa University, with the support of the Centre for Strategic Studies (Sindh). 

The objective of the conference was to acquaint the students of DHA Suffa University with the views of local and foreign scholars on the current global security crisis and its implications. 

Those who spoke at the conference included Qazi Khalilullah, former Ambassador to Russia and Executive Director of Centre for Strategic Studies (Sindh), Dr. Naushin Wasi, Professor of International Relations, University of Karachi, and Afshan Sabuhi of Dawn Group of Newspapers. 

The German scholars, Dr Marcus Marquette and Dr Yulia Nikita, an associate professor at Moscow State University, replied to the students' questions online. 

Apart from renowned economist Dr. Qaiser Bengali and teachers and students from other universities of Karachi, including University of Karachi, Federal Urdu University, Iqra University, Dow University of Medical Sciences, and Institute of Business Administration also attended the conference. 

The session was moderated by Pro Vice-Chancellor, DHA Suffa University, Prof DrAhmed Saeed Minhas, while the organizers of the event included IR Programme Manager, Sidra Ahmed, faculty members Dr Samreen Aamir, Mohammad Mustafa Raza and Sabah Qaiser.
