A Q Memon elected unopposed PTBA President again

The respected figure of Abdul Qadir Memon, popularly known as A Q Memon, was elected unopposed as the President of the Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) for the years 2017-19 at the 34th Annual General Meeting of the Association held recently in Lahore. He had previously served as President of PTBA for the term of 2009-2011.

The elections results of the PTBA, having 31 affiliated units representing 31 tax bars across the country, were announced by the Election Commission in Lahore. 

A Q Memon was elected to serve as the President of the Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) for the years 2003 and 2008, Junior Chamber International Pakistan (1998), Memon Professional Forum (2001) and Director JCI Asia Pacific Senate (2006). 

Hailing from Karachi, he has also served as Member Revenue Advisory Council, Ministry of Finance, Chairman National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited, Director of Pakistan Stock Exchange (formerly Karachi Stock Exchange), Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance and Member of Advisory Committee of Federal Tax Ombudsman & FBR’s Task Force on Simplification of Tax Law & Procedures. 

Presently he is serving as a Member of FBR’s Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee and Chairman/ Member of Taxation Committees of Pakistan Stock Exchange, Federation of Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) and Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI). 

He is also providing voluntary services as Trustee/ Member of HANDS, Cleft & Contracture Foundation, Sir Adamjee Institute and Memon Health & Education Foundation. 

In 1997 at the JCI Hawaii World Congress, he was adjudged as the ‘Outstanding Member of the World’ while he was declared as the ‘Most Inspiring Member of the World’ in 2006 at Seoul, South Korea. 

Meanwhile Mohammad Zubair, also from Karachi, was elected as the General Secretary of the PTBA for the term of 2017-19 with Mohammad Muneeb (Balochistan), Mushtaq Ahmed (Peshawar), Armghan Ali Shaikh (Lahore), Aftab Hussain Nagra (Sialkot), Haider Ali Patel (Karachi), Iftikhar Ahmad Khan (Faisalabad), Zahid Ateeq Chaudhary (Lahore) and Chaudhary Mohammad Khalid Asad (Multan) getting elected as Senior Vice Presidents. 

Javed Iqbal Chaudhary (Bahawalpur), Khurshid Anwar Khan (Mianwali), Mohammad Saqib Shaikh (Gujranwala), Mohammad Shakeel (Lahore), Mohammad aslam Ansari (Kasur), Mohammad Iqbal Malik (Sargodha), Ahmed Saeed (Mirpurkhas), Mian Aamir Zia (Rahim Yar Khan), Mohammad Waheed Haider (Rawalpindi/Islamabad) and Arshad Iqbal Rana (Lahore) were elected as Vice Presidents while Mohammad Arshad Qureshi (Central Sindh), Shahbaz Qadir (Lahore) and Mohammad Aleem (Karachi) were elected as Joint Secretary, Information Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
