The 10th edition of Adab-o-Kutub Khana, the flagship publication of Bazm-e-Akram, a literary forum of the library scientists, named after Prof Dr Ghani-ul-Akram Sabzwari, has seen the light of the day six months before its due date of publication in January 2018.
The 9th edition of Adab-o-Kutub Khana had also been brought a few months earlier than its scheduled publication in January 2017 but the latest edition has been published almost half a year in advance.
It’s quite unusual to find an annual publication being brought out six months before its due date.
Even the most famous and the most sought after annuals arrive in the last quarter of the preceding year.
The Chief Editor of Adab-o-Kutub Khana, Prof Dr Nasim Fatima, one of the luminaries of the profession, has been working with missionary zeal over the years to further strengthen and expand the forum of Bazm-e-Akram as well as its flagship publication.
The former Chairperson of the Department of Library and Information Science at the University of Karachi has taken upon the responsibility of managing the affairs of the annual publication and quite remarkably she has come out with flying colours once more.
She is credited to have kept Bazm-e-Akram alive and kicking against the heaviest of odds and her single largest contribution has been the regular publication of Adab-o-Kutub Khana every year since its revival in 2011.
As usual, Adab-o-Kutub Khana-10 contains many of the ingredients to enlighten the minds and souls of the readers. It has prose, fiction and poetry. There are short stories, interviews, research articles and travelogues besides other features between the covers.

ReplyDeletePlease accept my warmest and heartiest congratulations on giving such a pleasant surprise. What an accomplishment by the editor and her illustrious team to bring the magazine out much ahead of its due time! I dream that its frequency be changed to at least semi-annual if not quarterly. Those who pursue their dreams with passion make history, and librarians belong to that distinct class which is called the "torch bearers" in the arena of knowledge and wisdom. Felicitations!
