Syed Ahmed Naqvi, Librarian, King Imam University Medical College, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, illumined the select gathering of Bazm-e-Akram, with his impeccable knowledge during a reception hosted in his honour in Karachi on September 4.
It proved to a significant brainstorming session between some of the towering personalities from the field of Library of Information Science as they shared views on the key responsibilities of the practicing librarians.
Syed Ahmed Naqvi emphasized that the LIS professionals should derive inspiration from Prof Dr Ghani-ul-Akram Sabzwari, the Founder President of the Library Promotion Bureau (LPB) and the Founder Editor of the Pakistan Library and Information Science Journal (PLISJ), whose proactive students have been running the Bazm-e-Akram with missionary zeal.
He didn’t mince words in describing the legendary Prof Dr Ghani-ul-Akram Sabzwari as gem of a person who has set very high standards professionally as well as personally.
Prof Dr Nasim Fatima, who has played the pivotal role in galvanising the Bazm-e-Akram into a well-knit literary forum of library professionals, reckoned that it’s the duty of his students to carry forward his mission of spreading knowledge.
The Secretary of the Bazm-e-Akram, Dr Nasreen Shagufta, presented a signed copy of her first book ‘Darakhshan Sitarary’ to Syed Ahmed Naqvi who commended her for writing a wonderful book under the guidance of Prof Dr Nasim Fatima.
The Vice President of the Bazm-e-Akram, Dr Amna Khatoon, presented a copy of her book to the learned visitor from Saudi Arabia, who also received a book from Syed Khalid Mahmood on behalf of the Library Promotion Bureau.
The Joint Secretary of the Bazm-e-Akram, Syed Ateeb Ahmed, in his brief remarks on the occasion, expressed his gratitude to Syed Ahmed Naqvi for sparing time for the session at a rather short notice.
