Soyem of Z A Nizami held

The soyem of late Chancellor of the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), Karachi, Engr Z.A. Nizami was held at his Clifton residence in Karachi on April 9.

 

On the occasion Quran Khawani was held for Isal-e-Sawab of the departed soul after which Fateha was offered. The prayer was led by noted religious scholar Maulana Bashir Ahmed Farooqi while former Federal Minister Haji Mohammed Hanif Tayyab offered Dua. 

The soyem was largely attended by people from all walks of life including bureaucrats, former elected representatives, educationists, members of the civil society, members of the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association, faculty members of the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology besides hundreds of well-wishers and admirers of the late Nizami. 

Prominent among those who attended the soyem included Dr Ishrat Hussain, former Governor, State Bank of Pakistan, M M Usmani, former Commissioner Karachi, Saeed Ahmed Siddiqi, former Chief Secretary Sindh, Syed Sardar Ahmed, former leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly, ex-Senator Syed Fasih Iqbal, Nawab Mirza, former Speaker Sindh Assembly, Farooq Hasan and Mohsin Shaikhani, former Chairmen of ABAD, Anwar Gagai, Chairman ABAD, Shah Mohammed Misbah, former DG KDA, I.A. Usmani, Senior Vice Chairman PEC besides Hussain Bhai, Dost Mohammed Faizi, Azad Bin Hyder, Syed Abdul Bari Jilani, Shujaat Ali Baig, Rizwan Ahmed Siddiqi. 

The newly elected SSUET Chancellor, Engr Adil Usman, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Jawaid H. Rizvi, Registrar Shah Mahmood Hussain Syed besides chairpersons of various engineering departments of the university also attended the soyem.
