More medical supplies arrive from China

The second batch of medical supplies, donated by Jack Ma Foundation and the Alibaba Group, has arrived Karachi from China on May 15.

According to the details made available by Chinese Embassy, the relief supplies included ventilators, face shields, test kits and disposable protective clothing. 

Since the outbreak of the global health crisis, the Jack Ma Foundation and the Alibaba Group have jointly donated relief packages to more than 150 countries and regions in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North America and South America. 

They have also set up the Global MediXchange for Combating Covid-19 programme to help medical experts around the world share knowledge and best practices in the ongoing fight to contain the disease.

Meanwhile, in order to mitigate the suffering of under privilege people as well as students, particularly during the holy month of Ramazan, the Chinese Embassy has donated packages of items of daily use to the downtrodden people in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkwa and also among students of the Sarhad University of Science and Information technology, Peshawar. 

A Chinese embassy statement said that the packages will help overcome difficulties due to coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic particularly in the month of Ramazan. 

On the other hand, Jiangsu province of China has arranged epidemic prevention materials for its sister province of Punjab. The supply comprising equipment to fight against COVID-19 has already been handed over to the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing.
