Prof Dr Ghani-ul-Akram Sabzwari, Founder President, Library Promotion Bureau (LPB), and Founder Editor, Pakistan Library and Information Science Journal (PLISJ), is set to be given another warm sendoff as he prepares to return to North America after having spent the winter months in his home country.

Bazm-e-Akram, a literary forum of library professionals, has announced that Prof Dr Ghani-ul-Akram Sabzwari will be reaching the office of the LPB, housed in Liaquat Library, at 11.30 am on March 16 to meet and greet his admirers and followers.

He will remain available for a couple of hours and working lunch is also a part of the agenda.

Over the years, it has become a kind of tradition which Bazm-e-Akram, headed by Prof Dr Nasim Fatima, has succeeded in setting.

Having made it a point to host a welcome reception soon after his arrival from abroad, a farewell party is also arranged on the eve of his departure.

Hailed as one of the founding fathers of Library and Information Science (LIS) in the country, Prof Dr Ghani-ul-Akram Sabzwari had served as chairperson of the LIS department at the University of Karachi before moving on to Saudi Arabia where he worked for nearly three decades.

Although he relocated in North America, upon retirement from service, he has been coming over to Pakistan almost every year during the winter season. Having arrived Karachi last November for his current trip, he will be flying back later next week.
